A couple of weeks ago, Doc McGee’s opened its doors with a kickoff concert by local phenom Andy Velo. As the newest music venue in Northeast Georgia, Doc McGee’s knew how important it was to select a proven yet affordable ticketing partner. And that’s why they chose TicketBiscuit.

Andy Velo rocks the stage at Doc McGee's Grand Opening, April 22.

Stephanie Green Williams, booking agent for the club, states “We’re all about nurturing the local music scene, and a big part of that is making it accessible. Doc McGee’s will be that place where you can see a great show in a world-class venue but it won’t break your bank. We’ve got drink specials, affordable valet parking, and best of all, affordable tickets. We chose TicketBiscuit instead of Ticketmaster as our online ticketing provider so we can keep convenience fees as low as possible.”

Doc McGee’s owner Amber Ashe says that the venue was designed “to be a musician’s mecca. Everything- from the sound system to video recording capability to the size of the stage and lighting – has been built to allow musicians to deliver awesome live performances.” She adds, “Concert goers will be able to experience the difference.”

Doc McGee’s is a welcome addition to the live entertainment scene in Georgia. We’re proud to partner with them and help them keep live music affordable and accessible for their fans.

Doc McGee’s joins close to 50 other notable Georgia venues such as The Georgia Theatre, The Classic Center, The Melting Point, The Rialto Room at Hotel Indigo, and The King Plow Arts Center in choosing TicketBiscuit to power their ticketing needs. If you are a venue owner or promoter in Georgia, give us a call or email about ticketing for your venue.

Now this is a mouthwatering concept: a film festival, featuring films about food, where you actually eat the food featured in the films. That’s exactly what you’ll get at the 4th Annual NYC Food Film Festival June 23-27 of this year. The official lineup of movies (menu?) was announced today, so be sure to head on over to their website and prepare to indulge. TicketBiscuit is proud to sponsor this year’s festival and power their ticketing operations.

A pretty neat addition to the festival this year is the world’s first Food Truck Drive-In Movie. Saturday June 26, Food trucks from all over the city will converge under the Brooklyn Bridge, where festival-goers will have the opportunity to watch films celebrating food truck tradition while mowing on New York’s tastiest mobile delicacies. Free Tickets for the Food Truck Drive-In went up for grabs today, so make with the clickin’ and grab a few; they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Go ahead and make a donation as well; these will go directly to the Food Bank of New York City to feed fellow New Yorkers.

Are you going to the 2010 NYC Food Film Festival? Which treat are you looking forward to the most? Will you be adventurous and sample exotic delicacies such as squid chips or pig’s blood popsicles, or will you stick to more American fare like oysters and grits? Let us know!

We feel the need – for SPEED! Tickets for the 2010 season at the Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway went on sale Monday, March 22, through their website at http://www.historicnws.com. TicketBiscuit is not only powering their online ticket sales, but is providing box office software as well.

According to their website, it has been 14 years since tickets were sold to events at North Wilkesboro. Welcome back, guys, and welcome to the TicketBiscuit family!

Here is their official press release:

Tickets on Sale for 2010 Events

Coming off a historic week at North Wilkesboro Speedway in which the power has been turned on and renovations are in full swing for the 2010 season, North Wilkesboro Speedway will begin ticket sales for all events scheduled this year on Monday March 22, 2010 at 8:00 am through the Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway website.

After months of planning and finding the right solution for the speedway Historic North Wilkesboro Speedway partnered with Alabama based ticketing company TicketBiscuit. “This has been several months in the works, to make sure the solution worked well with our ticket office” said Steven Wilson.

Last Friday North Wilkesboro Speedway began a pre-sale to our newsletter recipients and have received a lot of great feedback on the affordability of tickets to all events at North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2010, all tickets to events will be priced at $17 in advance, and just $30 for the 3 day Short Track Shootout Weekend in October featuring the ASA Sunoco National Tour Kings Ransom 300 championship race. On May 15, 2010, North Wilkesboro Speedway will host the Red Carpet Movie Premier of Red Dirt Rising, featuring Matt Dylan in concert and 20 lap Legendary Ford Flathead series 20 lap race for only $15 in advance.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 28, 2009 – LOS ANGELES, CA, – The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club opens its doors this weekend, and Co-Owner Frank Kelley isn’t shy about his aspirations – he wants to have the top club in Los Angeles. The idea, according to Kelley and Lovitz, is to offer an alternative to the dimly lit showroom and common black-box stage – “the club will be bright and tropical,” according to their website.

But building a unique club with marquee talent is only part of the equation when the pockets of Americans are feeling the pinch, and most are making cuts to their discretionary expenses like live entertainment. Clubs like Lovitz’s may be competing with literally hundreds of other entertainment events on any given night. To get and keep the attention of potential ticket buyers, Comedy Club owners like Lovitz and Kelley are increasingly turning to Social Media. From Twitter to Facebook and YouTube, the comedy industry is realizing that the online space is a fertile environment for nurturing their fan base.

TicketBiscuit , a ticketing system provider headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, offers several features that help comedy clubs promote their events via popular social networks. Lovitz and Kelley became TicketBiscuit clients earlier this year.”When Jon and I decided to open our own club, I knew what I needed my ticketing system to do to help run the business. TicketBiscuit is perfect for us.” One of the most popular features of TicketBiscuit is the ability of the system to instantly post event details to a client’s Facebook Page and keep them updated. Another feature, Promotozoa, enables web visitors and ticket buyers to share event information quickly across over 30 popular social networks and web sites.

TicketBiscuit CEO Jeff Gale says that the company will continue to find ways to make its ticketing system help clients sell more tickets and foster online fan interaction. “Businesses are beginning to learn more and more about the importance of social networks and how to build community – our system makes that process much easier.”

Another Los Angeles club, the World Famous Comedy Store, recently became a TicketBiscuit client as well. Marketing Director Alf LaMont says of the relationship: “TicketBiscuit blew us away. The marketing tools they provide really help us sell more tickets. From Facebook integration, to the automatic website updates, to the built- in email blast engine, to the mobile phone ticketing– TicketBiscuit was the obvious choice for us.”

About TicketBiscuit: TicketBiscuit, founded in 2001, provides proprietary, web-based ticketing systems and box office software to over 400 venues and 200 clients nationwide, including over 20 of the nation’s top comedy clubs. Learn more at www.ticketbiscuit.com.

Those of you who subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on Twitter already know this, but nonetheless we’re fired up to announce that TicketBiscuit has been selected as the official ticketing provider for the Rick and Bubba Show! Some of you may have heard them talk about us on the radio this morning – we’ll be providing Rick and Bubba with our state of the art software to automate their Golden Ticket Process as well as helping them ticket other events as they come along.

Rick and Bubba Golden Tickets POWERED BY TICKETBISCUIT

For those of you who may not be “in the loop,” the Rick and Bubba show is a daily talk radio show carried in about 60 markets nationwide from Georgia to Alaska. They reach literally millions of listeners on a daily basis. Their studio features “Golden Ticket” seats where listeners can come and watch the show live. I listen to Rick and Bubba often, and one day a couple of months ago heard about their problems keeping track of the golden tickets and their desire to put a ticketing system in place that would automate the process. I thought- “perfect fit!”

Big props to Scott “The Tech Guy” Ferguson for working with us to get the Biscuit implemented with Rick and Bubba. You’ll see the Golden Tickets link live on rickandbubba.com starting Monday January 12.

I found some very cool news in my inbox this morning. One of our newest BattlePass clients, Xtreme Fighting Championships, has inked a very cool deal with MTV.

XFC President John Prisco and crew put on shows in Tampa to crowds averaging over 10,000, making him the largest regional promoter in the United States. In this deal, the XFC will host tryouts for the MTV reality show “Made”, the winning contestant will then train at the XFC training facilities, and the newly made fighter will debut on the April 18 fight card in Knoxville, Tennessee. The “made” episode will air in 2009.

John is a savvy promoter, so say the least. I encourage anyone in the marketing or public relations fields to read his Anatomy of a Fight Promotion series on mmajunkie.com. His strategy is pretty straightforward: tell an honest story, tell a compelling story, and aggressively court the “free” media to help you tell your story. This MTV deal is evidence of that strategy in action. How much free community exposure will John’s operation get when MTV comes to town and hosts tryouts? How much free national exposure will the XFC brand and franchise-able training facilities get when the show airs on MTV?

John knows the difference between commercials and media – commercials create awareness, media creates action. Oh, and media is a LOT cheaper.

This is where Elite XC got it wrong. They spent too much money too quickly and failed to establish a brand that could compete with the UFC. I don’t know if Prisco is interested in competing per se with the UFC, but it is apparent he has the foundation and skills to carve out a significant share of the market for the sport. And we’re in his corner.
