If all goes to plan, the legendary Georgia Theatre will reopen this June, almost two years after a fire completely gutted the historic structure. Owner Wilmot Greene says that while the building will be brand new and state of the art, not everything is changing. “It’s still going to be the same crew, the same spirit, just in a new building,” he said.

Another thing that is staying consistent is The Theatre’s longstanding agreement with TicketBiscuit to provide ticketing services. Greene and CEO Jeff Gale inked a long term, exclusive deal earlier in the spring. “Those guys have stuck with us, helped us out, and they’re a great team,” Greene said, “Plus, they still have the best technology and service in the business, hands down.”

Todd Coder, TicketBiscuit’s Director of Music Business Development, said “Having an icon like the Georgia Theatre as a part of the TicketBiscuit family is something we’re very proud of. We’re excited about their reopening, and are sure they’re about to write a few more chapters of music history there.”

Gale and Coder, who toured The Theatre earlier in the year, were impressed with the new space. “Wil is building a world-class showroom in Athens. The new Theatre is absolutely phenomenal,” Gale said.

The Georgia Theatre is scheduled to open with local acts in June and July, and have a series of Official Grand Opening performances in August. For more information, visit www.georgiatheatre.com.

About TicketBiscuit: TicketBiscuit, founded in 2001, provides proprietary software that powers the online ticket sales of over 500 clients in 1500 venues across the United States and Canada.

Last week, I and several of my colleagues from TicketBiscuit had the pleasure of spending a few great days in Phoenix, Arizona at the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) Annual Conference. It was a fantastic experience, an extremely well organized event, and a great time overall. We met literally hundreds of friendly casino operators, vendors, and tribal members, and made a lot of new friends. I am very much looking forward to building on the relationships we started there.

Monday we kicked off the morning a well-attended workshop entitled “SOLD OUT! How to Fill The House For Your Entertainment Events.” In the session, we shared best practices from our client base and insights gathered over our years of relentless innovation in the event marketing space. If you weren’t able to attend, check out the presentation below, and pass it on.

Sold Out! How to Fill The House For Your Live Entertainment Events

Tuesday was day one of the tradeshow. Trey “”The Hoff” Joined myself, CEO Jeff Gale, and Biz Development Maestro Bruce Ayers to meet the NIGA attendees. The place was electric, like a gigantic casino -mall – incubator – mixer all in one. We had very cool mardi-gras like beads we were passing out to guests who visited our booth. All told, we passed out about 500 beads and met about 600 people that first day. It was like speed dating for business, and it felt awesome.

Trey Hoffman, Jeff Gale, and Bruce Ayers havin a blast at the Biscuit booth.

At the end of day one, we gave away an iPad. But not before we had a little fun. As about 100 or so folks congregated around our booth to hear if they had won, we began leading them in a chant of “Ticket-Biscuit! Ticket-Biscuit!” It was like a huge pep rally -party atmosphere. Our big winner of the day was Ben Liao, with iBase systems. Congrats Ben!

Jeff and Bruce with Ben Liao, lucky winner of an iPad

Day two was equally awesome. Though the energy in the room was a bit more subdued than day one, folks still were coming to the Biscuit booth in droves to score some beads and see what kind of awesomeness we had in store for day two. The answer? We were going to give away a Wii and an HDTV.

Trey, Bruce, and Jeff had to split early to catch a flight back to HQ, but I stuck around till 1 PM to give away the loot. Again, we had an impromptu TicketBiscuit pep rally. Then, I drew these folks’ names out of the lucky red bowl: Rick Brown, from Extreme Networks, and Julie Cleveland, from Colville Casinos.

After day two I was physically exhausted, but exhilarated and excited at the awesome time we had. I look forward to touching base with our new friends over the next couple of weeks, and am definitely looking forward to NIGA 2012!

I think one of my favorite things about working in tech is when we make connections with other companies that are interested in solving the same problems we’re trying to solve. That’s what makes today’s announcement about our partnership with ScoreBig so cool. These guys have figured out a new way to help venues and live event organizers move excess inventory and sell more tickets. Unlike some of the other discounting services out there, ScoreBig’s approach doesn’t cannibalize full price sales or devalue our client’s brand. It’s innovative awesomeness, for sure.

Those that know TicketBiscuit know that our core mission is to relentlessly innovate to help clients sell more tickets. We were among the first to offer full social media integration, are one of the only to offer a powerful built in email newsletter engine, and remain one of the sole ticketing companies with an active affiliate program. We’ve led the way in helping active customers find and buy tickets, and empowering ticket buyers to spread the love socially and virally about the events they’re attending.

ScoreBig opens up a whole new horizon to our clients: the ability to be introduced to new customers. We see this as the perfect complement to our efforts to date. Plus, ScoreBig’s tech is way cool. They apply a Priceline-type “name your own pricing” approach to event tickets. You can find out more about ScoreBig here, or read the full press release below.

Welcome to the TicketBiscuit family, ScoreBig!

###

TicketBiscuit, ScoreBig Announce Strategic Marketing Partnership

Birmingham, Alabama – February 2, 2011. TicketBiscuit, a leading provider of ticketing software and services, and ScoreBig, a new website that allows live entertainment fans to make an offer on more than a half million live event tickets - all below retail price and without fees – today announced a marketing partnership that will enable hundreds of TicketBiscuit clients nationwide to leverage ScoreBig’s proprietary platform and marketing network to increase ticket sales.

TicketBiscuit CEO Jeff Gale said the partnership will help solve a key problem in live entertainment. “Currently, some 40% of tickets to live entertainment events go unsold. ScoreBig has developed a business model and service that solves this problem. ScoreBig fills unsold seats – and here’s the key –without devaluing our clients’ brands and cannibalizing full price sales. It’s a truly innovative approach, and it fits perfectly with TicketBiscuit’s core mission: to help our clients sell more tickets.”

Gale added that the ScoreBig partnership is the latest in a series of ongoing innovations at TicketBiscuit. In addition to pioneering social media integration with Twitter and Facebook, and offering a built-in email newsletter engine, the company unveiled an affiliate program in August that pays commissions to website publishers for referring ticket sales. “Our clients have seen great results from our affiliate program. It helps active customers – those who already plan to purchase – find our clients,” Gale said. “The partnership with ScoreBig is the perfect complement: it helps introduce new customers to our clients and move inventory that would otherwise perish.”

ScoreBig VP of Business Development Mark Meyerson said that having TicketBiscuit on board will broaden ScoreBig’s inventory and make the service more valuable to members. “TicketBiscuit’s impressive client roster of music venues, comedy clubs and event organizers will give ScoreBig members even greater access to quality entertainment at great savings nationwide.”

About ScoreBig
ScoreBig offers members guaranteed savings of up to 70% on tickets to live sporting, music and theater events with no fees and free delivery. ScoreBig partners with venues, sports teams, promoters, artists, entertainment properties and others to help move unsold ticket inventory safely and securely without the cannibalization risks and negative brand perceptions associated with traditional discounting. ScoreBig was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Los Angeles. To learn more about ScoreBig, visit www.scorebig.com.

What a great piece of news heading into the holiday season, and what a great way to set the stage for 2011. We announced today that we’ve secured a round of capital from C&G Capital Partners in Tuscaloosa, AL. Mike Chambers and John Gaffney are the principals of C&G, and in addition to their investment, they’re going to bring a motherlode of insight, advice, and mentorship to our team. To say that Team TicketBiscuit is excited about having these guys on board would be a colossal understatement. Big ‘Biscuit props to Zane and his team over at Founders Investment Banking, and our friends at Goodrich Law Firm for their guidance and help through the process!

Throughout the history of our company, we’ve developed technologies and services to help our clients sell more tickets and operate more profitably. Consider that in the last 24 months alone, we’ve rolled out mobile ticketing, Facebook and Twitter integration, Customizable Print-at-Home tickets, and an Affiliate Program that puts our client’s events on huge industry websites like eventful.com, SongKick, SonicLiving, JamBase, and more.

With this capital, we’re going to continue aggressively investing in technologies and services of this type. We think that’s a smart move – one that will benefit our promoter and venue clients, our investment partners, and live entertainment fans. As Jeff Gale, TicketBiscuit’s CEO, said in the official press release, “ We’ve got an amazing team of developers, industry veterans, and generally brilliant people. And we’re laser-focused on delivering real, innovative solutions to the challenges facing live entertainment ticket sales.” Let’s do this!

TicketBiscuit is excited to welcome Todd Coder to our team! Todd begins work for TicketBiscuit on November 10 and will be laser-focused on spreading the ‘Biscuit love to the nation’s best music venues.

And Todd knows music. He originally joined WorkPlay as talent buyer in 2006, and has been instrumental in establishing it as one of the top music and entertainment venues in the nation. Consistently voted best music venue in Birmingham by its patrons, Todd introduced an increased frequency of nationally recognized artists to the WorkPlay Theatre and WorkPlay Soundstage. Over the last year, he produced a ton of events outside of WorkPlay, among them the Hangout Beach, Music & Arts Festival, the Concerts for the Coast Series which included Bon Jovi and Brad Paisley, and Back to the Beach 2010 featuring Vince Gill & Mary Chapin Carpenter.

Todd’s new position with TicketBiscuit is part of a unique arrangement that we envision will be mutually beneficial to both TicketBiscuit and WorkPlay. In addition to his role with us, Todd will also continue to book national and regional talent for WorkPlay, while transitioning day-to-day duties to WorkPlay staff. Our CEO, Jeff Gale, explains: “Todd’s renown as a music industry expert and extensive network will unlock opportunities for TicketBiscuit to gain new marquee clients, and TicketBiscuit’s reputation and resources will help Todd establish new relationships and bring more national talent to Birmingham at WorkPlay. Everybody wins, especially Birmingham.”

Drop Todd a line at tcoder@ticketbiscuit.com .

Love Twitter or hate Twitter, it’s hard to disagree with the reach and influence of the popular micro-blogging platform. Now, TicketBiscuit makes it easier than ever to leverage this powerful community for the promotion of your events with the TicketBiscuit Twitter App.

Already built in to all TicketBiscuit accounts, this powerful little bugger lets you schedule pre-written, post-dated tweets about your events that will go out automatically – from your own Twitter account – at pre-defined times relative to your events.

TicketBiscuit's Twitter App Makes it easy to tweet consistently about your events.

Your auto-tweets are fully under your control. Customize any part of the tweet, and insert event-specific details by using the handy drop down menus. Some of the details you can include:

Event title, name, and date

Links to buy tickets and to event details pages

Ticket price ranges

On-sale dates and times

Venue city, state, and name

Scheduling your auto-tweets is a breeze as well: choose to publish the tweet when the event is announced, when the tickets go on sale, on the date of the event, or at any date or time prior to any of these.

You can schedule as many tweets as you like!

The TicketBiscuit Twitter App is just another example of how we never stop innovating to help you sell more tickets. For more information give us a call or send us an email.

Wow. While doing a little morning web surfing today I watched as one of our ticketing competitors crashed during a high demand onsale. The drama unfolded on Twitter as legions of angry fans cried FAIL. It reminded me of the Live Nation / Phish disaster from last year, though this appeared to be a much smaller event.

The fact of the matter is, there are very few ticketing providers that can handle extreme ticket demand. We’re proud to say that we’re one of them, as recently proven by our management of the ticketing for Garth Brooks’ Benefit Concert for the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, which took place yesterday (Sunday, August 1).The Sun Valley Summer Symphony entrusted TicketBiscuit with this event by allowing us to secure the ticketing rights to the concert in 2009.

The tickets went on sale over a month and a half in advance. We instantly saw demand equal to several times the supply of tickets available, and we sold them all within minutes. That sort of phenomenal spike in demand is difficult to manage, but TicketBiscuit proved our solution has the ability to handle it.

The best part is that we’re able to provide this level of reliability to our clients without a lot of additional cost to them. As demand increases, computing capacity is added via Amazon EC2 in real time. We’re able to bring on an arsenal of additional servers within seconds, and ensure that no ticket buyer has a frustrating experience due to website timeouts. After demand subsides, the solution scales back to normal operating levels. Since we only add capacity when it’s needed, we’re able to provide the capability at a drastically lower price point.

Sun Valley Summer Symphony Executive Director Jennifer Teisinger says,”From the onset [TicketBiscuit] has been fantastic. Not only is their software smart, reliable, and robust, but the service and attention we’ve received throughout the process has been remarkable. I’d recommend them to anyone.

We never stop thinking of cool ways to help our clients sell more tickets. Today, we’re launching the TicketBiscuit Affiliate Program to the general public.

How does it work?

The concept is pretty simple actually – website owners, bloggers, and publishers link to our events from their website or blog, and we pay them commissions on referred ticket sales.

How did we do it?

First, we took our massively cool legion of clients and their ever-expanding multitude of awesome events.

Next, we built an easy, intuitive way for web publishers, bloggers, and site owners to tap into those events.

And finally,we topped it off with a generous commission structure. One that even pays commissions for presale tickets or ticket purchases made within 24 hours of when tickets first go on sale to the public (unlike that other, less awesome ticket affiliate program).

Where can I learn more?

Check out our affiliate program page to learn more, sign up now, or email affiliate (at) ticketbiscuit.com.
